IT market in CIS countries 2009

During the first quarter of 2009 sales of IT products and services dropped in almost every country of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The biggest CIS markets lost their key IT development drivers, including high prices of natural resources and inflow of low interest rate loans from EU banks. Demand for IT systems and hardware is expected to start slow recovery toward the end of this year. Leading CIS vendors also believe in a significant change of IT market needs.
CIS countries have few similarities in the current level of their IT market development. All of them have suffered from low investment in computers and IT systems in the past and in spite of fast IT market growth in 2004-2008 still fall behind other countries of Central and Eastern Europe by the level of PC penetration, IT spending per capita and use of information technologies in the business and public sectors.
