The market of the services provided by commercial data centres in Russia is expected to reach $316.8m (€236.9m) in 2011, resulting in a 33% year-on-year growth, according to J’son & Partners Consulting. An effective area of data centres in the country will grow to 70,200 m² by the end of 2011.
The demand for data centre services has been quickly growing in the last several years driven by the development of internet applications with big volume of data traffic, the launch of public IT programmes and an increasing interest of the business in virtualisation and cloud computing technologies. Several big construction projects are planned for 2012 and 2013. In 2016, total sales revenues of Russian data centres are expected to fall into the range of $481-655m (€360-490m).
In H1 2011, sales revenues of Russian data centres already hit $131.4m (€98.2m) while an effective area of the data centres operated in the country end of June 2011 reached 58,480 m².
