Sales of IT security hardware in Russia hit $119m in 2010

The sales of IT security hardware in Russia hit $119m (€85.8m) in 2010. Furthermore, in the next five years, this market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 19.9%, reported IDC. Five leading IT security hardware vendors, including Cisco, Check Point, Informzaschita, Aladdin R&D and Juniper Networks, had combined approximately an 80% value share in the market.

There is a shortage of low-end IT security hardware solutions in the country. Nevertheless, this segment is expected to develop, driven by demand in the SME sector for relatively inexpensive unified threat management solutions.

As for now, however, large enterprises are still the most profitable sector of the reviewed market, being responsible for 80% for IT security hardware solution purchases in 2010, with a significant share of financial and telecom companies.
