New antipiracy regulations in Russia, which entered into force as of the beginning of August, seem to start influencing the software market. The new policy was a subject of conference organised by the Russian Ministry of Culture. The new law allows the owner of copyrights to send a warning to a given internet provider in order to delete the stolen content. Providers are obliged to inform the person, who published the content, that materials must be removed under penalty of the prison. There are first results of the new law. The Ministry claims that thanks to the antipiracy policy some 21% of subjects engaged in illegal distribution of content, stopped to carry on the activity.
