Russian satellite operator, Orion, ended Q1 2017 with almost 3m subscribers. It was about 1% more in comparison with Q4 2016. The ARPU indicator (average revenue per user) reached RUB 104 (€1.7) for a budget package and RUB 284 (€4.7) for the average price in Q1 2017 (13% and 6% up in comparison with Q1 2016). Total revenues for the first quarter amounted RUB 765.3m (€12.7m). Orion provides mainly DTH services, representing 72% of the overall company’s activity. In January 2017 the company signed an agreement for the lease of satellite capacity on the Intelsat-15. Furthermore, Orion launched a new OTT platform and expanded its cooperation with Viacom International Media Networks. Orion develops also e-commerce with applications “Personal Cabinet” and “Telecard Online”. General Director of Orion, quoted by cnews.ru, says that the company wants to increase the attractiveness of additional packages on TV channels, invest in replacing equipment from their subscribers, strengthen DTH segment and develop in the B2B segment.
